Introduction
Biopolymers
Polymers produced by living organisms.

Contain monomeric units that are

covalently bonded to form larger
structures.
Structure Of Biopolymer
Biopolymers have a well-marked
structure.

 These have uniformly distributed set of

molecular mass

 Appear as a long chain of worms or a

curled up string ball under a
microscope.
Examples
Some examples of are-
 proteins, carbs, lipids, peptides and polysaccharides
(such as glycogen, starch and cellulose).

There are primarily two types

 One that is obtained from living organisms
 Another that is produced from renewable resources but
require polymerization.
Classification
 Classification by source,
 Classification by structure,
 Classification by synthesis,
 Classification by molecular forces.
Classification by source
 Natural (nucleic acids, polysaccharides,
protein, natural rubber (polyisoprene)

 Synthetic (polyethelene, teflon,

polyvinilchloride, polystyrene).
Classification by structure

 Linear polymers
 Branched chain
polymers
 Three-dimensional
network polymers
By molecule form

Globular
Fibril.
By nature atoms,
-Carbon contain polymers

-Hetero polymers
Difference

Conclussion
Today, biobased polymers are getting importancee because
conventional resources. In the days to come, more and more
stress will be exerted on such ecofriendly sources so as to
save our environment.

Time is of the essence for biodegradable polymer

development, as society’s current views onn environmental
responsibilities make this an ideal time for further growth of
biopolymers.
