THE ACROPOLIS OF ATHENS
The Acropolis of Athens is an ancient citadel located on a rocky
outcrop above the city of Athens and contains the remains of
several ancient buildings of great architectural and historic
significance, the most famous being the Parthenon.
THE ARCHAEOLOGICAL SITE OF DELPHI
The pan-Hellenic sanctuary of Delphi, where the oracle of Apollo spoke,
was the site of the omphalos, the 'navel of the world'. Blending
harmoniously with the superb landscape and charged with sacred
meaning, Delphi in the 6th century B.C. was indeed the religious centre
and symbol of unity of the ancient Greek world.

Rhodes' nickname is The Island of the Knights, named after
the Knights of Saint John of Jerusalem, who ruled the island
from 1310 to 1522. The Medieval Old Town of the City of
Rhodes has been declared a World Heritage Site

Greece.

monasteries symbolise the human attempt to
transcend the earthly.
• Meteora and Mount Athos are just some of the most
famous.
METEORA
The area of Meteora was originally settled by monks who lived
in caves within the rocks during the 11th Century. The
monasteries attracted not only the deeply religious, but the
philosophers, poets, painters and the deep thinkers of Greece.
Today only six of the monasteries are active.
MOUNT ATHOS
The Holy Mount Athos is an autonomous and self-governed
territory of Greece. It occupies the whole of the third peninsula
of Halkidiki Greece
