5 Citing Related Literature Using Standard Style
LITERATURE USING
STANDARD STYLE
Research makes use of previous information and data from
statements of experts which are expressed in various sources
most common of which are books, journals and computer
databases. These data utilized both for qualitative and
quantitative researches. For qualitative research , previous
studies do not only serve as a basis for the current study but
more significantly, information culled from the said sources can
support in the process of interpretation and analysis of data. It
is necessary that proper citations are followed.
Without library resources, researchers will find great difficulty
in doing a study. This lesson presents the varied sources that
can be used for doing a literature review and how they are cited
in the text and reference list.
What am I Citing?
BOOKS
Last name, First name (year). Book Title. Subtitle, (edition) Place : Publisher
When entering more than one in-text citation within the same parenthesis,
enter them in the same order as the reference list. Reference list is the list of
the sources you used with your paper. Place list at the end of your paper.
Observe the following:
Title your list of sources References
List your sources alphabetically by author
Double- space your reference list
In Text:
Example: Vega, Prieto, Carreon, 2009; Corpuz and Salandahan, 2013
Reference List:
Example: Corpuz B. & Salandahan G. (2013) Principle of teaching 1.
