FLORA OF UTTAR PRADESH
• •Uttar
Pradesh is a state rich in flora and fauna. It has an amazing variety of
some 1,000 woody plants, including 3,000 trees, 400 shrubs, and 100 woody
climbers.
• More than 200 species of grasses have been identified in the Gangetic plains
along with a rich supply of herbs and valuable medicinal plants.

FLORA OF MEGHALAYA
• Meghalaya contributes about 18% of the total flora of the country,
including 1,237 endemic species .A wide variety of wild cultivable plants,
edible fruits, leafy vegetables and orchids are found in the natural forests
of Meghalaya. Meghalaya is a wonderful place for botanical experts to
see the beauty of the nature that lies in the vearth of Meghalaya.

FAUNA OF UTTAR PRADESH
• The fauna of UP is among the richest in the country .The jungles of UP has in
abundance tigers, leopards, wild boars, jungle cats, jackals, foxes, monitor
lizards and scores of other species of mammals and reptiles.
• To preserve its wildlife, the state has established one national park - the
famed Corbett Park and 12 game sanctuaries. The Corbett Park, which is a
major tourist attraction, covers 324 sq km of land

FAUNA OF MEGHALAYA
Meghalaya is a major area of Indo-Burma biodiversity hot spot and identified
as key area for biodiversity conservation due to high species diversity and high
level of endemism. It has attracted the attention of wildlife enthusiasts and
research scholars from all over the country. The rare and highly endangered
Clouded Leopard is the State Animal. 
Herbivores commonly found are Elephant, Gaur, Sambar, Serow and Barking deer. Omnivores
comprise of Jackals, Common fox, Sloth Bear, Himalayan Black Bear, Large Indian civets,
Yellow throated Marten, Mongoose, Hog Badger etc. Among the primates, Hoolock Gibbon, the
only Ape found in India and Capped Langur both globally endangered species are also found in
the StateHerbivores commonly found are Elephant, Gaur, Sambar, Serow and Barking deer.
