    • She is undoubtedly a living legend, most
    respected, most loved,highly admired and widely
    heard.
    • This persona of perfection is none other than
    lata mangeshkar.
    • It is a voice that no Indian can
    miss.
    • She is the pride of Indian music
    industry.
    • Blessed with beautiful voice, a well
    known Indian Vocalist, highly
    versatile.
    • Lata Mangeshkar is one of the best
    singers of the Hindi film industry.
    Today is 28th September is her
    birthday.
    • First child of Mangeshkar family
    ,born in Indore, but brought up in
    Maharashtra.
    • When she was only 5 years old she
    began working as a theatre artist
    in Sangeet Nataks.
    • She sang song in 20 languages
    • When she sang for the first time in
    Marathi film, her father did not like
    the idea of singing in the films. So
    that song was deleted from movie.
    HOW CAREER STARTED
    • When her father died, she was not having
    any option but to work and play small
    roles in various Hindi and Marathi films.
    • Though she was not fond of acting but
    she took up the assignment to feed her
    family.
    • But one day, Lata mangeshkar met the
    film producer S. Mukharji through Gulam
    Haider
    • S.mukherji did not like her voice and said
    a big no for giving her a chance to sing
    for his film.So, at that point of time
    Haider promised himself to establish her
    singing career in bollywood.
    The biggest break
    • She got the biggest break, when
    she was given the chance to sing
    the song for movie MAHAL.
    • In 50’s, 60’s 70’s and 80’s, she
    remained the queen of Bollywood
    playback singing.
    • In 1990’s lata established her
    own production house too.
    MEMBER OF RAJYA SABHA
    • In 1999, she was nominated as a
    member of Rajya sabha.
    • However, She did not attend the
    Rajya Sabha sessions regularly.This
    invited criticism from several
    members of the House .
    • But she stated the reason for her
    absence as ill health.
    • She also reported that she had not
    taken a salary, allowance or a
    house in Delhi for being a member
    of Parliament.
    AWARDS
    • In 2001, Lata Mangeshkar was awarded Bharat
    Ratna,India’s highest civilian honour.
    • She has won seven filmfare awards, three times
    national awards and two times Maharashtra
    awards.
    • Apart from these, she won padma Bhushan,Dada
    Saheb Phalke and the numerous other awards in
    her kitty.
    • She is listed in the Guinness Book of World Records as the
    most recorded artist in the world.
