Founded by Charles Pfizer and Charles Erhart in 1849.
It was credited with the discovery of fermentation through creation of citric
acid from sugar which fueled the first major widespread production and
distribution of penicillin.
Pfizer was the leading supplier of penicillin supplier to the US Army
during world war 2.
Pfizer became a multi-national company in 1951 and expanded to Belgium,
Brazil, Canada, Cuba, England, Mexico, Panama, and Puerto Rico.
