Elements of a trend a trend
TREND
a behavior or new way of doing things and it has
a big impact on our society. It is a sequential
pattern of change in a condition, output, or
process, or an average or general tendency of a
series of data points to move in a certain
direction over time, represented by a line or curve
on a graph.
A trend is a general direction into which something is
changing, developing, or veering toward. The term
may also mean a fashion or craze, i.e., a fad. The verb
‘to trend’ means to develop or change in a general
direction. In the world of social media, if something
trends it is the topic of many posts.
EXAMPLES OF TRENDS:
Facebook – is the most common social network website where you
can share information about yourself and communicate with other
people.
Twitter – it lets you see what is happening around the world, from
breaking news and entertainment, sports and politics to big events
and every day interests.

A trendy person is somebody who is very up to date or fashionable.

We can also use the term for styles or things. For example, a trendy
hairstyle is a fashionable hairstyle. Trendy clothes are fashionable
clothes.

THERE ARE 3
FUNDAMENTAL
ELEMENTS THAT
DRIVE ALL TRENDS
BASIC NEEDS

These are the forces that have been

shaping human behavior for years
(if not forever!). Think status,
fairness, community and more.
DRIVERS OF CHANGE
On the other hand, there are no trends without
change. To analyze change, think in terms of
Shifts (long-term, slower) and Triggers
(specific factors or events).
INNOVATIONS

Innovations aren’t trends. But without

examples of customer-facing
innovations, a trend can’t be said to exist
fully yet.
02
DIFFERENCES
BETWEEN
TRENDS AND
FADS
1. FADS -It has a short term existence, emerges quickly
and fades quickly, and short lived recurring.
2. TRENDS -It is effective, has more than a year existence,
has a high popularity and long term popularity, socially
constructed, recurrent phenomenon sustained over
time and has a high market demand.
Trends have a much longer lifespan than fads. In fact, they can
continue to be fashionable for years and even decades. The
primary difference between a trend and a fad is that trends have
the potential to be long-term influences on the market.

According to the Cambridge Dictionary, a trend is defined as “a

general development or change in a situation or in the way that
people are behaving.” On the other hand, a fad is “a style,
activity, or interest that is very popular for a short period of
time.” Trends and fads influence all corners of our lives

facilitates, or catalyzes a

2. •Wide scanning -Observation of numerous field, areas and quick
documentation of all the things that might generate partial answers.

trending area and thoroughly documenting it.
4. •Scenario -This is the part where you make your idea tangible, tests
your idea and revisions if necessary.

•Scrutinize -It's the 4s model part where you examine your product or
