How to get the PowerPoint template

Downloading the PowerPoint template

1. Open the Brand Portal


2. Download the PowerPoint template by clicking the three dots next to the MU
PPT Template file and selecting download
3. Open the download folder and open the new PPT Template file (double click to
open a blank presentation in Windows, single click for a Mac)

Adding or removing slides

Adding slides

The blank PowerPoint template opens with 5 default


slides
To add slides:
1. Select the Home menu and select the lower half of
the New Slide button where the down arrow is
2. Select one of the slide layouts to add as a new slide

The blank PowerPoint template opens with 5 default


slides
To remove slides
1. Select a slide from the left hand navigation to
remove
2. Press the delete key on the keyboard to remove it

The new Murdoch University template defaults to Arial font throughout


• Title, section and thank you slides have separate font sizes and colours but use Arial
font
Content slides
• Headings: Arial (Headings) 36pt – colour: Murdoch red
• Body: Arial (Body) 24pt – colour: black
• Hyperlinks use Murdoch University’s secondary teal colour.
• Bullets and numbers are available to use in content layouts

Note: The intent of providing this template is to provide staff and students a consistent and commonly styled format for all
presentations to enhance the Murdoch University brand. The Murdoch University Brand Style Guide should be referenced for
more information.

Adding graphs

1. Add a new slide. Select a layout with the word


“Content” as the layout name
2. From the Insert menu select Chart
3. Choose a chart format to use

Note: linking charts to external data


sources (e.g. Excel) can increase the
PowerPoint file size. To avoid this,
screenshot the source charts and add
them as images into your presentation

Adding tables

A table slide has been included in the MU


template default slides. You can duplicate this
slide as needed. If removed you can readd this
slide by following these steps:
1. Select “Reuse Slides” from the Home menu
2. Scroll down or search for the Murdoch
University Presentation Template and select
the correct file
3. The template default slides will then be listed.
Scroll through these slides and select slide 5
with the sample table
4. The table slide will be added to your current
presentation
5. Select the table and use the Table Design and 12
Layout menus to update the table as needed
Adding images

1. Add a new slide. Select a layout with the word


“Content” as the layout name
2. From the Insert menu select Pictures
3. Select an option to insert picture from:
this device, stock images or an online pictures

Note: Online images often have copyright


restrictions, so please ensure images are
sourced and used appropriately.

1. Select the Insert menu and select the


Header & Footer icon
2. Select to include the following on either
the slide or the notes and handouts:
• Date and time
• Slide number or
• A custom footer
3. Select “Apply to All” when finished

1. Select the File menu and select Print


2. Choose the layout “Full Page Slides”
(or Slides on a Mac)
3. Select the “Scale to Fit Paper” option
(regardless of the layout selected)
4. Always preview the printout layout
before sending the pages to a printer

Note: The default slide size has changed from 4:3 to


16:9 to display presentations better on wide screen TV
and monitors. This often uses less vertical space on
printouts. For better results with printing material
consider using Word or PDF as an alternative solution
