THE MANDARIN OF
THE FLOWER

Plot summary:
A mandarin (bureaucrat) lived by the name of Tu Thuc was sent to govern the district of Tien Du.
Near his residence was an old pagoda, famous for magnificent peony shrub. Whenever the shrub
flowered it drew a crowd of pilgrims, so each spring there was a festival.

It also means that spiritual awakening and faithfulness. Even this is emerged in murky waters in the
morning and be perfectly clean a sign of purity.
Brocade robe: In Buddhism it is the robe where Buddha wears in statues as every Buddhists called
him the enlightened one or the awakened one.
Phoenix: In Buddhism means that is endowed with all of the magical qualities of auspiciousness:
longevity, resurrection. It also symbolizes peace and tranquility.
The land of the Immortals (Place for Pilgrims): In other words, the place of enlightenment of the
Buddhist where Gautama achieved enlightenment under a Bodhi Tree. 36
