SERVE TYPES

UNDERHAND SERVE
 Used to put the ball in play.
OVERHAND SERVE
The action is done with arm
swing that sends the ball
over the net into opponent’s
court.
UNDERHAND SERVE

 a type of serve in which the

player holds the ball in one
hand, swings the other in an
arc motion below the waist
and strikes the ball from the
bottom with a fist to put it
in play. In an underhand
serve, the player does not
toss the ball up in the air,
as in other serve attempts.
UNDERHAND SERVE

tosses the ball with one
hand and strikes it in the air
above their head with the
other hand.
OVERHEAD SERVE
JUMP SERVE
An overhand serve
where the ball is first
tossed high in the air,
then the player makes a

PASSIN
TYPES
G
 Basically, you perform a
passing skill on any ball FOREARM PASS
that has been sent over the
net to your teams side of OVERHEAD PASS
the court. The pass in
volleyball is known as a
"bump" or a "forearm pass"
because it is performed
using the forearms to bump
the ball. Passing is a very
important skill in volleyball.
FOREARM PASS

 Forearm volleyball pass

involves hitting the ball in a
controlled manner to your
teammate.
OVERHEAD PASS

 The overhead pass involves

hitting the ball using an
overhead playing motion to
direct the ball to your
teammate.
SETTIN
G

 the second step of passing,

and it is done to “set” the
ball into a position that
allows the hitter to spike it
over. The perfect set is a
high ball, just inches from
the net.
SPIKIN
G
 forcefully striking the ball
toward the floor on your
opponent's side of the net.
You wait for the setter to
set the ball near the net,
then approach the ball,
jump, and go in for the
"kill." If the ball hits the
floor before the other team
can retrieve it, your team
gets a point.

above and including the waist which does not allow
the ball to visibly come to a rest.

 If two or more players contact the ball simultaneously, it

is considered one play and the players involved may not
participate in the next play.

 A player must not block or attack a serve.

 Switching positions will be allowed strictly for front line

players. (After the serve only).
Only three players from the team can strike the ball
successively before they send it to the other team.
