PLASTIC

POLUTION
THIS PRESENTATION IS CREATED TO
REPRESENT THE HARMFULNESS OF PLASTIC ,
THE EFFECT OF PLASTIC ON THE
ENVIRONMENT AND HOW TO REDUCE ,
REUSE ,RECYCLE SAVE OUR PLANET EARTH.
HARMFULNESS ON
PLASTIC POLUTION
 Unlike other materials, plastic does not
biodegrade. It can take up to 1,000 years to
break down, so when it is discarded, it builds up
in the environment until it reaches a crisis point.
 It threatens human health, affects food and
water safety, burdens economic activities, and
contributes to climate change.
 Additionally, the International Union for
Conservation of Nature finds that carcinogenic
chemicals found in plastic products can leach
into tap water, which may cause developmental,
reproductive, neurological, and immune
disorders
EFFECTS OF PLASTIC IN THE ENVIRONMENT

 This pollution chokes marine wildlife, damages soil and poisons

groundwater, and can cause serious health impacts. Is pollution
the only problem with plastic? No, it also contributes to the climate
crisis. The production of plastic is one of the most energy-intensive
manufacturing processes in the world.
 Plastic causes harm globally through five dominant effects. It fills
the environment with debris, contaminates critical ingredients for
survival, causes a wide range of known and unknown illnesses,
bolsters the most destructive industries on Earth, and it just won't
go away.
 Every day, the equivalent of 2,000 garbage trucks full of plastic
are dumped into the world's oceans, rivers, and lakes. Plastic
pollution is a global problem. Every year 19-23 million tonnes of
plastic waste leaks into aquatic ecosystems, polluting lakes, rivers
and seas.
Reduce means to minimise the amount of waste we
create. Reuse refers to using items more than once.
Recycle means putting a product to a new use instead
of throwing it away. Rethink is about considering how
our actions affect the environment.

REDUCE , The 3 'R's – Reduce, Reuse, Recycle – are all about

minimising the amount of waste we produce, reusing
REUSE , products as much as we can, and remembering to
recycle any materials that can be used for a new
RECYCLE purpose.

Prevents pollution caused by reducing the need to

harvest new raw materials. Saves energy. Reduces
greenhouse gas emissions that contribute to global
climate change. Helps sustain the environment for
future generations.
