Introduction of Preposition

Preposition are used to link nouns and pronouns to other words within the sentence. The words linked to are called object. The mouse is under the table.

Position means a place where someone or something is located or has been put

in, on, at, by, near, nearby, above, below, over, under, up, down, around, through, inside, outside (of), between, beside, beyond, in front of, in back of, behind, next to, on top of, within, beneath, underneath, among, along, against

AT and IN

At = the general place, a point - at school, at the theater, at the

beach

In = an area, a place with limit

The meaning is totally different (at and in)

I am at the office = general location of the office. ( not in the specific room or lobby)

We use this to mean that someone or something is touching a surface. It mean that not in and not under. Example : on the desk, on the road, on the floor

Often in and inside mean the same thing : in the box = inside the box in the bag = inside the bag

But note these different : in the water NOT inside the water in the air NOT inside the air

Outside is the opposite of Inside. It means not in something but near it. Example : There was a long line of people outside the theater.
