Nuggets GM Gets Honest About Controversial Viral Comments
During Tuesday night's LA Clippers vs. Denver Nuggets broadcast, Denver Nuggets GM Calvin Booth spoke on his controversial Bones Hyland-Michael Porter Jr. comments.
"Under no circumstances would I make or approve of those kind of comments for public consumption," Booth said. "It's not my character as a person or executive, and I think it's an unfair characterization of Michael and Bones. I think Bones is a great kid, has a bright future ahead of him, a charismatic player in our game. And obviously Michael is a core piece of our program with his character and offensive and defensive prowess. So I think that was unfair for those things to be put out there and hopefully it doesn't happen in the future."
These comments were reported in an article from Kevin O'Connor of The Ringer, but it now seems Booth was either not intending for them to go on the record, or was misquoted to some extent. Addressing the reported comments now that they have gone viral, Booth does not want people to believe he has any negative feelings towards Bones Hyland, and certainly does not want people thinking he has issues with Porter's game.
This is a bizarre situation, and one that will likely need some clarification from The Ringer now that Booth has made it clear these comments were not supposed to be this public.
