STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- North Shore Residents Melissa and Angela Foo, two sisters raised in South Beach, recall their childhoods where they were able to get dirty while exploring the outdoors.

“We would always pick up the sand, and make little mud pies with it,” said Angela, a registered dietitian and chef. “We loved playing outside in the street, even though we didn’t really have much to play with. We were just making our own fun and using our imaginations.”
