Assistant Professor in Journalism at the University of Canberra, Dr Caroline Fisher, says the shift in audiences to online mediums is a ‘crisis’ for news organisations everywhere.
The university's 'Digital News Report: Australia 2019' has shown that over 50 per cent of Australians now consume news from online sources, while just 14 per cent pays for news content.
Speaking to Sky News, Ms Fisher says Australia is part of a global trend with increasing numbers of online-only brands.
