Claressa Shields has the gift of gab and can back it up in the ring. The self-proclaimed “G.W.O.A.T.” is a multi-division champion and looks to enhance her legacy when she challenges Vanessa Lepage-Joanisse for the WBC heavyweight title on July 27.

The fight will air on DAZN worldwide.

Shields (14-0) is a two-time Olympic gold medalist. The 29-year-old holds the record for becoming the fastest to win titles in two and three divisions. She is also a two-time undisputed champion, holding all the gold at middleweight and super welterweight. When she is not in a boxing ring, Shields competes in the PFL

The Flint-born Shields has fought as high as 168. One would think the jump to heavyweight would be too much, but the fight against Lepage-Joanisse can be up to 175, something Shields is confident in making.

“That’s the weight that I walk around at,” Shields said to Isaiah Hall via Click on Detroit. “So when I fight at 154 and 160, I get as big as 175 pounds but don’t get any bigger. So that’s why this fight I’ll be a lot more comfortable, and I don’t have to lose a whole lot of weight.”

“People talk about how I don’t have knockout power, but I have to kill myself to make weight too. Now that I don’t, I think I will be putting all that talk to rest. She’s coming big, strong, and fast, but I’m coming big, strong, and fast too.”

Lepage-Joanisse (7-1) failed to capture the WBC heavyweight title in 2017 against Alejandra Jimenez but won it against Abril Argentina Vidal while on a four-fight win streak. The Canadian has two wins via knockout.
