The Boston Red Sox haven't had injuries coming at the furious pace that they were earlier in the year, but on Friday, the Red Sox had a pitcher go down.

Prior to their game against the New York Yankees, Boston announced that they placed right-handed reliever Chris Martin on the 15-day (retroactive to July 4) with elbow inflammation. Left-handed reliever Cam Booser will take his place, as they've recalled him from Triple-A Worcester.

Martin hasn't had his best year, posting a 3.42 ERA and a 1.025 WHIP while striking out 29 batters over his 26 appearances. This is his second trip to the injured list in 2024, as he dealt with anxiety earlier in the year.

Booser has appeared in 26 games for Boston this season, recording a 3.21 ERA and a 1.179 WHIP while striking out 33. He was sent back to Triple-A Worcester roughly two weeks ago.
