The New York Yankees have an eye on Miami Marlins star Jazz Chisholm ahead of the MLB trade deadline, and they'll get even more intel with two weeks remaining.

As the Yankees and Marlins have already begun discussing a potential deal before the July 30 deadline, Chisholm will get the chance to show off his versatility.

Though the former All-Star has been working as the everyday centerfielder in Miami, he'll now be getting work at second base, per head coach Skip Schumaker. Chisholm was a second baseman before making the switch to centerfield in 2023.

That is vital news for the Yankees, who are expected to make a move to improve the infield depth, especially at second base.

Considering the struggles that Gleyber Torres (81 OPS+) has gone through this season, the Yankees have to think about making a change.

Chisholm isn't playing at the same All-Star level he enjoyed in 2022, but he's still an upgrade at second base. His added versatility in centerfield would also interest the Yankees given how often they want to give Aaron Judge the half-days off at DH.

Chisholm has been roughly league-average with a 100 and 103 OPS+ in 2023 and 2024, respectively. He's 26 years old and is arbitration-eligible through the 2026 season.

In 91 games during the 2024 season, Chisholm is slashing .252/.322/.414 with 12 home runs, 42 RBI, 18 stolen bases and 33 walks.
