1968 (Golf): At Carnoustie in Angus, Scotland, South African Gary Player shoots a 1-over 73 to win his 2nd of 3 Open Championship titles by 2 strokes over Jack Nicklaus and Bob Charles. Player entered the tournament at +800 to win the title while Nicklaus was the favorite at +450. Player, who earned £3,000 for the win, notched his 5th of 9 major titles.


2010 (MLB): The National League ends a 14-year All-Star Game drought after defeating the American League 3-1 at Angel Stadium. The NL was a +100 underdog and the game went under the total of 8½-runs. Atlanta Braves catcher Brian McCann, who hit a bases-loaded 3-run double with 2 outs in the 7th inning, was named the MVP.


2019 (Tennis): Romanian Simona Halep defeats Serena Williams 6-2, 6-2 in only 55 minutes to win her 1st Wimbledon singles title and 2nd Grand Slam title. Halep entered the tournament at +1800 to win the title and was a +160 underdog for the match.
