1910 (Boxing): Called the "Fight of the Century", Jack Johnson defeats Jim Jeffries by TKO in the 15th round to retain the heavyweight title. Jeffries, who was a -155 favorite for the fight, had come out of a nearly 6-year retirement after being the undefeated heavyweight champion.


1983 (MLB): Southpaw Dave Righetti throws a no-hitter for the New York Yankees in their 4-0 victory over the Boston Red Sox. New York was a -160 home favorite as Righetti threw the first no-hitter in Yankees history since Don Larsen tossed his perfect game in the 1956 World Series.


1999 (Tennis): In an all-American final, Pete Sampras defeats Andre Agassi 6-3, 6-4, 7-5 to win his 3rd straight and 6th overall Wimbledon title. Sampras was a -140 favorite for the match and entered the tournament as the favorite to win the title at +140.
