Welcome to our independent freehouse in Gerrans (top of the hill Portscatho).

Come to us to enjoy real ales, hand-picked wines and contemporary cocktails alongside seasonal food from our wood-fired grill. Expect a warm welcome with roaring fires in the winter and a vibrant south-facing beer garden in the summer; a proper pub.

FAQs

  • Yes dogs are allowed in all areas of the pub. With flagstone floors and rugs dotted throughout, dogs can make themselves at home here. Complimentary treats and water bowls can be found by the bar.

  • Gift vouchers aren't something we offer at the moment.

However, you can give us a call anytime and pay over the phone to gift someone a bottle of something, get a round in, or simply give a contribution towards their meal with us.

  • Children are very welcome. We can do any of our dishes in half portions at half price, and simplified if needed. We also offer a children’s dish of the day.

We have high chairs and areas that can accommodate a buggy next to the table. For larger groups with older children, you may request a separate children’s table if you wish. For any of these options, please make a note on the booking form.

  • For sure!

Open fires, real ales & Sunday roasts in the winter.

Frozen cocktails, wood-fired BBQ & garden feasting in the summer.

  • We are currently just operating as a pub.

There are plenty of lovely cottages, campsites, B&Bs and hotels in the area.

  • You are spoilt for choice here on the Roseland.

Our favourite is the Towan loop. From the pub head left down Treloan Lane and enjoy a walk along the bridlepath through the Rosteague Estate to Porth (Towan) beach and back to Portscatho along the coast path.

For more options, check out the local National Trust website, iWalk Cornwall website or, if coming from St Mawes over the Place ferry Fal River Rambles.

  • We have a small patrons car park along Treloan lane. If this is full there is plenty of public parking in the village - Gerrans free car park just 50 yards further up the lane. Portscatho pay & displays either by the memorial hall or in Porthcurnick beach car park.

  • Castle Cars St Mawes 07581721881

    Roseland Taxis 07817447667

    St Mawes Taxis 01326 279042

  • The bus route from Truro or St Mawes stops just opposite the pub by the church. Take the number 500 First Kernow bus / number 50 Go Cornwall bus. This runs multiple times a day, 7 days a week, all year round.

  • We have a wheelchair entrance at the side directly into the dining room - our staff will be able to assist you with this. But please be aware due to the 17th Century thick cob walls it is very tight getting a wheelchair into the toilets. For this reason we currently cannot say the pub is wheelchair accessible. The nearest public disabled toilet is 500m away on the waterfront next to Tatams. This obviously isn’t ideal.

Wheelchair accessible facilities is something we will be addressing in phase two of the refurbishment.

  • Absolutely. We keep the yellow and blue bars free for casual drinkers. There is also the garden on fair weather days.
