Hurricane Ernesto is moving fast as it continues to head north-northeast in the open Atlantic past Canada.

The forecast has the storm remaining well off the U.S. East Coast, but forecasters warned of dangerous swells and rip currents along beaches in the U.S. Northeast and Atlantic Canada.

Ernesto is expected to weaken into a post-tropical cyclone and then dissipate on Wednesday, according to the latest advisory from the National Hurricane Center.
