Live from New York, it’s Post Malone.

The Syracuse-born singer-rapper will appear on “Saturday Night Live” for the first time this weekend as the show’s musical guest. Singer-actress Selena Gomez will host the May 14 episode.

Malone will be promoting his upcoming album, “Twelve Carat Toothache,” featuring The Weeknd collaboration “One Right Now,” due to be released June 3. Posty is expected to release another new song, “Cooped Up” with Roddy Ricch, on Friday.

It’s unclear if Malone will appear in any “SNL” skits, but he does have acting experience. He appeared in Mark Wahlberg’s 2020 movie “Spenser Confidential” and Jason Statham’s 2021′s film “Wrath of Man”; he also voiced a minor character in “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse,” which featured his hit song “Sunflower” on the soundtrack.

The Grammy-nominated musician is also reportedly planning another tour, testing flavor profiles for launching his own beer, and expecting his first child with his girlfriend.

“I’m excited for this next chapter in my life, I’m the happiest I’ve ever been, and for since I could remember I was sad,” the 26-year-old singer told TMZ last week. “Time to take care of my body and my family and friends, and spread as much love as we can every day.”

Malone’s business empire includes rebooting the “Friday Night Magic” global play program for the popular strategic trading card game, sponsorships with Bud Light, multiple collaborations with Crocs, his own rosé wine (Maison No. 9), co-owning Texas-based Envy Gaming, a professional beer pong league called World Pong League, and a clothing brand called Trading Post Apparel.

Post Malone was born Austin Richard Post on July 4, 1995, in Syracuse, N.Y. He lived in Central New York until he was 10, when his family moved to Texas. He currently lives in Utah, but his family still owns a home in Baldwinsville.

Malone is not the first person with Central New York ties to appear on “SNL.” Cazenovia native Siobhan Fallon Hogan was a cast member from 1991-1992, DeWitt native Michaela Watkins appeared on the 2008-2009 season, and Alec Baldwin, who frequently visits his mother and other family members in the Syracuse area, holds the record for most times hosting the late-night sketch comedy series.

“Saturday Night Live” airs Saturdays at 11:30 p.m. ET on NBC; episodes are also available on Peacock and Hulu. This weekend’s episode will be the 20th of season 47 and the 929nd episode since the show’s debut in 1975.
