5 incarcerated at Justice Center taken to Syracuse hospitals after taking unknown substance

Syracuse, N.Y. — Five people incarcerated at the Onondaga County Justice Center who were under the influence of a substance were taken to Syracuse hospitals Saturday.

Ambulances were called around 1:40 p.m. after the inmates were seen behaving erratically at the jail’s recreation yard, said Deputy Doug Roser, a spokesperson for the sheriff’s office.

They are being treated for non-life-threatening symptoms, he said.
