Syracuse, N.Y. — Syracuse police are asking for help identifying a truck that damaged the Paige’s Butterfly Run finish line hours before the race around closing time last month.
Police on Saturday provided a photo of a white pickup truck hitting the setup for charity race’s finish around 2:34 a.m. June 8 in the 300 block of Erie Boulevard West. It damaged the scaffolding and arch that marks the finish line.
The truck continued, possibly getting onto Interstate 690.
Police described the truck as a 2019 or newer model Dodge Ram 1500 pickup. It is white with a black cover over the bed. The truck has chrome rims and trim. It is likely the truck has significant damage to the front windshield and possibly the roof, police said.
Paige’s Butterfly Run is an annual event raising money for pediatric cancer patients and patients with blood disorders. The organization was founded in memory of Paige Yeomans Arnold, a Baldwinsville six-year-old who died in 1994 after being diagnosed with leukemia.
Police ask anyone with information about the hit and run to call them at (315) 442-5130.
