Syracuse quarterback Kyle McCord made headlines on Tuesday, as the latest episode of HBO’s offseason edition of “Hard Knocks” aired.
The show is following the New York Giants throughout the offseason, and McCord somehow found himself catching flak on the popular NFL program.
During the episode, the spotlight was on the Giants’ pre-draft interviews — one of which was with former wideout Marvin Harrison Jr. And during that interview, HBO aired part of the conversation the Giants’ staff had with Harrison that detailed playing with an inexperienced quarterback.
Mike Groh, the team’s wide receivers coach who was leading the interview, asked about an under-thrown ball in the team’s win over Wisconsin in October. Groh noted that Harrison had played with one of the best quarterbacks for a few years, then had played with a quarterback growing into the opportunity.
“I mean that’s a s--- throw, right?” Groh asked of one play.
Harrison, rejecting any opportunities to speak ill of his former high school and college teammate, said, “I don’t say nothing to quarterbacks.”
Harrison decided to take the chance to put the blame on himself.
“I can make a play, still,” he said. “I will never say anything to the quarterback. Always blame it on myself.”
Harrison was drafted fourth overall by the Cardinals, while McCord transferred in December to Syracuse.
