Security tension | Reconciliation phase ends and patrols of regime mobilize in Talbiseh

Homs province: Talbiseh City in northern Homs countryside is witnessing a state of security tension, coinciding with the entrance of a joint patrol of intelligence departments to the region after end of reconciliation phase and closure of the office in the municipality building.

According to local sources, the patrol comprises five “Pick Up” cars equipped with Dushka weapons and roamed streets of the city before stationing at the junction of Al-Sa’an Village eastern of Talbiseh, forcing dozens of young men to gather near it.

Meanwhile, the patrol later withdrew towards the centre of Talbiseh district as it was being pursued by residents of the city on motorbikes, demanding the patrol to exit the city to avoid escalation or armed conflict.

Moreover, residents demanded to send a message to Major General Hossam Luqa, to implement the terms of the agreement that includes reconciliation and handing over of weapons, after the entrance of regime forces in the city and surrounding farms.

On September 5, SOHR activists reported that the security campaign launched by regime forces in Talbisah city in the northern countryside of Homs ended without achieving any significant goals, which aimed to seize weapons in the possession of members refusing settlements in the city, and to carry out arrests against them, as the participating forces, represented by the Russian-backed 25th “Special Tasks” Division, counter-terrorism members, and the military police, withdrew from the city towards the cities of Homs and Hama, without arresting anyone or finding weapons warehouses that the regime forces and security services had claimed existed.
