IRS experiencing delays in processing payments

On June 20, 2024, the IRS announced delays in posting payments made through the Electronic Federal Payment Posting System (EFPPS). This means the IRS experienced a higher volume than normal of electronic payments, which has caused a significant delay in processing payment records for payments received on or after April 18, 2024.

Taxpayers can use their online account to view their payment history and view any pending payments that are still being processed.

Taxpayers who filed by the tax deadline will not be charged penalties or interest due to IRS processing delays.

You can generally resolve most notices or letters without help, but you can also get the help of a professional – either the person who prepared your return, or another tax professional.
