Anthony Gordon transfer odds: Could Liverpool swoop?

Newcastle United winger Anthony Gordon has had a fantastic year and his form with the Magpies earned him a place in the England squad for the European Championship.

There have been differing reports regarding the Tyneside outfit’s struggle with financial fair play and whether they must sell some of their star assets to comply.

If this is the case, Gordon could well be one of those on his way out as a high-value player and a host of Premier League and European clubs are rumoured to be interested in him.

Gordon suits Liverpool

The strong rumours regarding Gordon and a move away come from Anfield, with the Reds looking to add to their attacking options.

They are the shortest-priced side to sign the winger. His ability and forward-thinking style should suit the Reds with their fast-paced attacks a joy to behold.

Gordon scored 10 times and had 11 assists in the Premier League last season, which is a very good record, and new Liverpool manager Arne Slot may see him as a guarantee of another outlet in forward positions.

Apart from Mohamed Salah, the Reds have a forward line that is often hit-and-miss, with Darwin Nunez, Cody Gakpo and Luis Diaz all struggling for consistency in a Reds shirt.

Gordon, a boyhood Liverpool fan, knows the area well from his time with Everton, so there are plenty of pointers to a potential move to Anfield.

At just 23 years old, he could have an unbelievable future ahead of him. The Reds could feasibly have an exciting player for a decade if they were to swoop for him now.

PSG in need of forwards

One outside shot regarding Gordon leaving Newcastle is a move to French side PSG, with the gigantic club in need of some forwards ahead of the new campaign.

Their star man Kylian Mbappe, who has gone to Real Madrid, is almost irreplaceable as one of the best players on the planet.

But his departure does open the door for PSG to spend. Their current forward options lack depth, with Ousmane Dembele and youngster Bradley Barcola the only first-team wingers in the squad.

Gordon could well suit PSG, with boss Luis Enrique wanting an outlet that can take on the opposition in attack.

What the current side lacks is match-winners and they will certainly be in the hunt for some over the coming weeks of the transfer window, with Gordon a potential candidate to join the Ligue 1 club.
