Friday’s bet of the day: Manchester United vs Fulham, 8pm

Manchester United lost six times in the Premier League at Old Trafford last season and one of those defeats came in the corresponding fixture.

On that occasion Alex Iwobi sealed a 2-1 victory with a late goal that came just a minute after Harry Maguire looked to have earned a point for United with a close-range equaliser.

Our bet of the day focuses on a player who, like Iwobi, came through Arsenal’s ranks but now finds himself at Craven Cottage. Emile Smith Rowe has joined Fulham for a club-record fee that could rise to £34million and we’re backing him to have a shot on target.

The 24-year-old has scored twice in pre-season and famously found the net at Old Trafford in December 2021 with a long-range shot that went into an unguarded goal as David de Gea lay injured after colliding with one of his own players.

Tip: Emile Smith Rowe 1+ shot on target @ 10/11 with bet365

Saturday’s bet of the day: Sheffield United vs QPR, 3pm

The Blades, who host the west Londoners on Saturday, head into the game full of confidence having beaten Preston North End and Wrexham in the first week of the season.

United have a strong side for this division and the likes of Kieffer Moore and Gustavo Hamer are excellent players to make use of in the Championship.

QPR lost their opening fixture 3-1 to West Bromwich Albion in what turned out to be a disappointing display, and a trip to Bramall Lane could be too tough for the R’s.

We are backing the hosts to get the victory and continue their 100 per cent record this season.

Tip: Sheffield United to win @ 4/5 with bet365

Sunday’s bet of the day: Chelsea vs Manchester City, 4.30pm

The Blues meet City at Stamford Bridge on Sunday afternoon and it is a tricky opening game for boss Enzo Maresca.

Chelsea were well off their usual selves in the previous campaign and this could prove to be another tough task after City recently beat them comfortably in pre-season.

The visitors’ boss Pep Guardiola has a lot of strong players back from the summer’s various international competitions and will hope that Erling Haaland has his goalscoring boots on early in the campaign.

The reigning champions have been phenomenal for four years now, and we expect them to start their defence of the title off with another victory.

Tip: Manchester City to win @ 4/5 with bet365

What is the bet of the day?

The bet of the day is a single, double, treble or accumulator that we believe has the best chance of returning a profit.

It will have been exhaustively researched and we’ll explain why we think it offers value for money.

How do we select our bet of the day?

There are thousands of football matches each week and hundreds of betting markets, but we assess all the fixtures to find the best-value bets.

We look at the teams’ statistics, current form, league position and head-to-head stats to gauge the bet’s potential.

What do we look for in our bet of the day?

Value. First and foremost, we want you to be placing a bet that represents good value.

We’re looking for outcomes that don’t just have a good chance of coming in, they should also be at shorter odds.

What price do we try to make our bet of the day?

There’s no specific price for the bet of the day, but we try to make sure it’s usually at evens or above.

At the very least, you will then double your money if you take our bet of the day and it wins.

Remember, you should only bet what you can afford and no bet is guaranteed to be a winner.
