Haaland the top hot-shot again
Erling Haaland’s second successive Premier League Golden Boot echoed Manchester City’s record fourth consecutive title with its air of seeming inevitability.
Where Arsenal pushed City all the way in the title race, it was Haaland’s former City team-mate Cole Palmer who emerged as his closest rival to become top goalscorer, at one point in April moving level with the Norwegian on 20 goals.
But seven goals in his final five league games took Haaland to 27 and he finished five clear of Palmer, whose tally of 22 is remarkable given that Chelsea underperformed for much of the campaign.
Behind the top two, Alexander Isaak of Newcastle United was third on 21 goals, followed by Phil Foden (City), Dominic Solanke (Bournemouth) and Ollie Watkins (Aston Villa) all on 19 goals.
