      Vodafone Broadband deals

Vodafone no longer offers ADSL broadband, focusing instead on fibre broadband plans starting with Superfast 1, which offers average speeds of 38 Mbps. Vodafone Broadband offers speeds that are ideal for streaming videos, gaming, socialising and online shopping. The broadband provider also offers great deals on broadband and phone bundles, allowing you to combine internet with a calls package or mobile phone contract for a cheaper deal than if you were to sign up with different providers.

All Vodafone broadband plans require an 18-month or 24-month commitment, but there's typically no setup costs to pay. While Vodafone broadband deals are long-term, there's always the option to end it early, though this will involve an early termination fee.

Vodafone Broadband offers several fibre packages with different broadband speeds. The higher the speed, the higher the price, so it makes sense to choose the minimum speeds you need if you’re on a monthly budget. When comparing broadband deals, it’s important to consider both your needs and your budget. Take a look at the Vodafone broadband deals on offer:

      Vodafone Superfast Broadband

Vodafone Superfast Broadband is an FTTC (fibre to the cabinet) deal, available with three different speeds. Choose from:

      Superfast 1

Superfast 1 offers an average speed of 38Mbps, ideal for small households streaming and browsing on a few devices.

      Superfast 2

Superfast 2 has an average download speed of 67Mbps, nearly double the speed of Superfast 1. Superfast 2 is suitable for larger households, as it can support up to 10 devices comfortably as long as they’re not all streaming and gaming online at once.

      Superfast 100

Superfast 100 has an average speed of 102 Mbps, which provides a very quick connection that is sufficient for streaming and gaming in HD with several devices online at once.

      Vodafone Ultrafast Broadband

Vodafone Ultrafast Broadband is an FTTP (fibre to the premises) offer, also known as full fibre. Full fibre broadband solely uses a fibre-optic cable to deliver the fastest speeds available in your area. These packages will suit households with several users with high usage demands. Vodafone broadband has two ultrafast broadband packages to choose from:

      Ultrafast 200

Ultrafast 200 delivers an average speed of 200Mbps.

      Ultrafast 500

Ultrafast provides an average download speed of 500Mbps.

      Gigafast broadband

Gigafast is the fastest Vodafone broadband offer, offering lightning-fast speeds with the potential of an average speed of 900Mbps.

An FTTP connection of these lightning-fast speeds is also available with Hyperoptic, Gigaclear, Virgin Media, EE and many other broadband providers, but Vodafone has the added advantage that you can combine it with the Pro package for better results. This way, you get the fastest broadband speeds on the market, plus additional 4G backup in case your home broadband loses connection. Set-up costs are occasionally high on this type of deal, as it means laying fibre-optic cables all the way to your home.

      Vodafone mobile broadband

Mobile broadband with Vodafone is a way of getting WiFi in your home without a traditional fixed line, so there’s no need to install fibre cables or a phone line. Vodafone simply uses its 4G and 5G mobile network to supply you with internet, as long as this service is available where you live.

It works similarly to a pay-monthly or SIM-only mobile contract, where you pay for the data plan you need every month on a 12-month, 24-month or 30-day contract. Mobile broadband is also available as a pay-as-you-go deal. In this case, you pay a one-off fee for the hotspot or dongle that provides you with 15GB data, and then you can ask for another data pack when you need it.

Choose from the following Vodafone mobile broadband deals:

      4G Mobile Hotspot

Vodafone’s 4G Mobile Hotspot is a portable 4G hotspot that can connect up to 10 devices at once, providing an average download speed of 35Mbps. The battery lasts up to eight hours on a single charge, which means you can even enjoy a WiFi connection when you’re out for the day or travelling. There are different data plans available, including:

      Plan Monthly cost Contract length
      4GB £12 24 months
      4GB £13 12 months

      Unlimited data £37 30 days

*30 day plans include an upfront cost of £49

      5G Mobile Hotspot

You can enjoy 5G on the go with the Vodafone 5G Mobile Hotspot, which provides an average speed of 150 Mbps. It can support up to 32 devices and has a battery life of up to eight hours. It’s user-friendly and has a 2.4-inch inch touchscreen that lets you control all its functions and track your data usage from the router. Vodafone currently isn’t displaying its 5G hotspot plans online, but they are competitively priced, starting at £15 a month. There is, however, an upfront cost of £80 on even the cheapest plan, which isn’t required with any of the 4G hotspot plans.

      GigaCube mobile router

GigaCube is a portable wireless router that provides superfast broadband using Vodafone’s 5G network. This allows you to boost the WiFi connection in your home if your home broadband is slow, or if you live in an area where the fastest fibre broadband connection isn’t available yet.

Plan Monthly cost Contract length Upfront cost
      200GB £40 24 months £50
      200GB £40 30 days £175
      Unlimited data £60 24 months £0
      Unlimited data £60 30 days £175

      Mobile data dongle

The Vodafone dongle uses its own mobile network to connect your laptop or PC to the internet. It works with any laptop that has a USB port, including Windows and Mac. Choose from the following data packages:

Plan Monthly cost Contract length Upfront costs
      4GB £8 24 months £0

Reviews for the My Vodafone app in the most popular app stores are positive, though a smattering of criticism is present. Android users report too many notifications, no option to disable certain notifications and the occasional bug. iPhone users are more positive about the app, though some complain that the advertised ‘24-hour customer service’ relies on a bot to address out-of-hours queries.

      Vodafone Broadband reviews

      Trustpilot broadband.co.uk expertreviews.co.uk broabandgenie.co.uk
      1.3/5 ⭐ 2.6/5 ⭐⭐⭐ 3/5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 3.3/5 ⭐ ⭐⭐⭐

A quick look at the popular consumer review site Trustpilot would give a skewed view of Vodafone Broadband. It is, of course, useful to get a sense of common complaints among Vodafone customers, but it’s also important to note that users are more likely to want to share their opinion if they have a complaint than if they are happy with their service.

That said, it’s worth noting that many recent reviews cite issues with installation and frustration at having to speak with a chatbot rather than a customer service agent as their main issues.

Independent review sites offer a more encouraging impression of Vodafone’s service, praising the provider’s affordability, and range of speeds while acknowledging certain user complaints. One review site claims that 67% of users surveyed would recommend Vodafone Broadband to a friend.

This said, Ofcom’s most recent report on telecoms and pay-TV complaints lists Vodafone as the provider with the 4th-highest number of complaints per 100,000 customers with 15, behind TalkTalk, NOW Broadband and Virgin Media.

Pros and cons of Vodafone Broadband

      Pros

        • Fibre broadband plans have average speeds of 38 Mbps or more.
        • Combine internet service with a Vodafone calls package or mobile phone contract in one bundle.
        • No set-up costs to pay.

      Cons

        • All Vodafone Broadband plans require an 18- or 24-month commitment.
        • Early termination fee for leaving your contract early.

      Verdict

Our verdict is that, while some users have been frustrated by the provider’s service, it’s worth considering Vodafone Broadband depending on which providers are available in your area. Vodafone does, for example, get considerably less complaints than NOW Broadband and Virgin Media, being on a par with competitors TalkTalk (also on 15 complaints per 100,000 customers).

In short, you should base your decision on the affordability and appeal of the deal you find. Vodafone’s speed guarantee mitigates to a certain extent, the risk of receiving a slower service than you sign up for, but if you want to minimise the risk of having to complain, the best-performers according to Ofcom’s most recent report are Sky with just 5 complaints per 100,000 customers.

      Frequently asked questions

Yes, Vodafone offers some broadband-only plans that don’t require a landline. In most cases, however, having a phone line and paying for line rental is required to get Vodafone Broadband.

The speed of your broadband deal will depend on the plan you choose. All deals offer fibre broadband with fast speeds starting at 35Mbps. As of March 2018, Vodafone has offered all Home Broadband customers the ‘ultimate speed guarantee’, which guarantees Superfast 1 customers speeds of at least 25 Mbps and Superfast 2 customers speeds of 55 Mbps.

If you’re not receiving the speeds advertised by your Vodafone Broadband deal, you’re entitled to 15% off your monthly bill, which you can claim via the Vodafone Broadband app.

Yes, Vodafone uses the Openreach network.

Mobile broadband offers a WiFi connection using the Vodafone 4G and 5G mobile network. With mobile broadband, there’s no need for a fixed line as the router connects to the internet with the help of a mobile SIM card in the same way that mobile phones do.

Setting up your broadband usually only takes a few minutes. In most cases, you’ll be able to set it up yourself with the help of a manual.

You can cancel mobile broadband by giving Vodafone a call or by visiting a Vodafone store. There’s a 30-day notice period, so let them know as soon as possible. If you’re ending your contract early, you may have to pay an earlier termination fee.
