Heavy rain is expected to hit Nashville Thursday afternoon

Expect windy and seriously wet skies the rest of Thursday and into Friday in the greater Nashville area.

Although most of Middle Tennessee saw a break in the rain when morning showers lifted northward, heavier rain and possibly a couple storms will likely return during the afternoon hours, according to the National Weather Service in Nashville.

A wind advisory is in effect Thursday for gusts up to 45 mph.

"A soaking rain between an inch and an inch and half will come in around 4 or 5 p.m.," said NWS Meteorologist Sam Herron.

Expect mild temperatures with a high of 61 on Friday. Cooler air is expected to hit the region on Friday night with a low overnight into Saturday of 33. Saturday is expected to warm up to about 50 degrees.
