I just happened to sit down at the Franklin Pride Festival a couple of weeks ago across the table from a guy named Patrick Prince.

I'm Keith Sharon, a reporter with The Tennessean. First, he tells me he's flown in that morning from Southern California. He lives in Fairview, works in L.A. I ask him his line of work.

And he says:

Mass shootings.

For more than 40 years, Patrick Prince has consulted with companies, schools and government agencies about how to prevent mass shootings.

I ask him how we stop them.

That, he said, is complicated.
