Lebanon-based Lojac Holdings Corp has agreed to sell its materials division that produces brick, block and stone to Alley-Cassetty Companies.

The sale is expected to close in January, according to LoJac Holdings Corp. CEO J.D. Lowery.

LoJac has been a prominent contractor and materials producer in Middle Tennessee, well-known for highway construction work since the company began in 1983. LoJac sold its construction and asphalt divisions to Vulcan Materials in 2017.

Alley-Cassetty's acquisition of the materials division will include LoJac's concrete block manufacturing facilities in Lebanon and Dickson and a yard in Cookeville.

About 85 LoJac employees will transition to Alley-Cassetty with the sale, Lowery said. The acquisition does not include the LoJac name, trademark or remaining divisions.

The sale is a "natural progression," Lowery said from a three-year joint venture Alley Cassetty and LoJac entered into related to the brick, block and stone division.

Alley-Cassetty is a family-owned and operated masonry material distributor that will expand from 11 to 14 locations in the southeast with the purchase.

The expansion will allow Alley-Cassetty to manufacture more than 12 million blocks a year combined with its existing facilities in Gallatin and Murfreesboro and improve operational costs, according to a news release.

“It’s important that we identify ways to improve efficiencies in manufacturing and distribution to meet the increased demand in the marketplace,” Alley-Cassetty CEO Sam Strang said in the release. “This deal not only does that, but also enhances our mission of delivering high-quality products and services to our customers.”

LoJac's remaining divisions include property, recycling and a patented fastening system for metal rebar called Kodi Klip.

"We'll be more heavily focused on growing those now," Lowery said.
