Vanderbilt basketball players Colin Smith and Trey Thomas "will miss some time" with injuries, Jerry Stackhouse said Tuesday.

The pair both missed the 89-87, overtime win over Temple. Following the game, Stackhouse said Smith had a wrist injury and Thomas had a sprained MCL. Stackhouse did not specify exactly how long they would be out.

Smith, a freshman, was a bright spot in the first two games for Vanderbilt (1-2). He shot 5-for-12 from the field in losses to Memphis and Southern Miss with 14 rebounds and two assists.

Thomas, a 3-point shooting specialist, was 3-for-10 from the field including 2-for-8 from deep.

Though both players typically serve as reserves, the loss of both gives a hit to the Commodores' bench. A lack of depth in bench options was one of the biggest issues last season and Vanderbilt has little margin for error moving forward after the loss to the Golden Eagles.
