Bundle up folks. It's going to be a cold night for Tennessee high school football with temperatures around 35 degrees by kickoff.

It's the third round of the TSSAA football playoffs. That means it's the Division II semifinals and Division I quarterfinals. All Division II winners have next week off.

Follow along for updates tonight as we see which Division II teams clinch a berth in the state championship games on Dec. 1 in Chattanooga along with which Division I programs will be playing next week on Black Friday with a trip to the championship games on the line.

FRIDAY'S SCORES:TSSAA football scores for 2022 playoffs: Tennessee high school quarterfinals, semifinals

SEMIFINAL PAIRINGS:TSSAA football playoff brackets 2022: Tennessee high school state semifinal schedule

10:15 p.m.: Friday night scores, semifinal matchups

You can find tonight's scores here, and next week's semifinal pairings here.

Some scores that we might have missed here tonight:

  • East Nashville 40, Smith Co. 27
  • Friendship Christian 24, USJ 20
  • Nashville Christian 54, Jackson Christian 20
  • Henry Co. 27, Springfield 19
  • McKenzie 20, Fayetteville 18

Some interesting matchups next week (though all 12 are very interesting!)

  • Beech travels to Bartlett with a chance to face the Oakland-Maryville winner in the Class 6A title game. Oakland let Blackman hang around tonight, and Maryville has proven to be beatable. I'm not saying the Beech-Bartlett winner will be the favorite in Chattanooga, but this is not the Oakland and Maryville teams to fear from years prior. Both very good still, but not out of the question to win a game against either.
  • Page-Henry County for a Class 5A title game berth. It was an emotional win for Page tonight at Nolensville, so next week's game will be interesting from an emotional standpoint.
  • East Nashville will travel to Covington, and Pearl Cohn will travel to Haywood next week. Can Metro schools get two teams to Chattanooga?

9:45 p.m.: Page ends Nolensville season, moves onto Class 5A semifinals

There were some wild games on Friday night, including Page's 35-28 win over Nolensville in another high-scoring game that required the defense to make a play late.

Page got it with 65 seconds left on a 4th down stand as Nolensville threatened, with this broken up pass.

Those two teams played two excellent games this season, with Nolensville winning the regular season matchup in OT. The Patriots, though, move on Friday night.

Page faces Henry County next week in the Class 5A semifinals. What a night of football.

9:40 p.m.: Baylor holds on in a classic to advance to DII-AAA title game

Baylor's Whit Muschamp has been excellent tonight, and his 5th touchdown pass of the night is the play of the game against Brentwood Academy, a 14-yard catch from Max Leblanc with 25 seconds left to go ahead 44-39.

It wasn't decided yet, though.

Brentwood Academy returned the kickoff to the Baylor 31, and had a chance at the Baylor 16-yard line with two seconds left. The play went short, but the BA receiver is inches short from scoring as time expired. Wow.

Baylor 44, Brentwood Academy 39. Sure looked like BA scored on the play, but it was close.

Baylor-MBA is the Division II-AAA state championship game in two weeks in Chattanooga.

9:25 p.m.: MBA survives to the DII-AAA title game on 2-point conversion stop

McCallie scored on an 11-yard TD pass on 4th and goal to get within one, but MBA's defense broke up the 2-point conversion play in the right flat. Wow.

MBA recovers the onside kick after a deflection, and the Big Red win. MBA will go to Chattanooga with a 28-27 victory over McCallie. What a game. Tom Kreager will have more from the field soon.

9:10 p.m.: Nolensville holding on to a 1-point lead over Page

It's the fourth quarter in Nolensville, where the Knights lead Page 28-27. Joe Spears will have video and stats, plus a story after the game.

Meanwhile, Baylor has re-taken the lead at Brentwood Academy on another Whit Muschamp TD pass. Baylor leads 38-32. McCallie cut the MBA lead to a score on a Jay St. Hilaire touchdown run.

We're in the fourth quarter. Time to decide who is headed to the semifinals next week!

8:55 p.m.: A couple classics in the second half

Page and Nolensville are going back and forth, with this Nolensville TD from Coby Walton to Eric Harper tying the game at 21.

Baylor won't go away, as Whit Muschamp's fourth TD pass of the game has cut Brentwood Academy's lead to 32-29. Both games are in the third quarter.

Oakland has a two-score lead against Blackman, and another Marcel Reed TD pass has MBA up by two touchdowns against McCallie. Reed has four TDs tonight.

A busy and fun night of games so far.

8:30 p.m.: Division II-AA title game set with familiar opponents

Lipscomb Academy won 44-7 over Webb, and CPA won 28-13 over Chattanooga Christian. That has created the first complete matchup for the BlueCross Bowl state championship games in two weeks in Chattanooga.

The two teams played in the regular season last month, and Lipscomb Academy pulled away in the second half to win 43-21 after CPA led at halftime.

So mark it in pen: Lipscomb Academy vs. CPA at 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 1 in the Division II-AA BlueCross Bowl state championship game at Finley Stadium in Chattanooga.

Games across the midstate are reaching halftime. Let's look at some scores:

7:50 p.m.: Fast and furious updates

Catch up with some scores and highlights, starting with Nolensville's 14-7 lead over Page. The visiting team got on the board via a bungled field goal attempt gone right.

Nolensville countered quickly.

MBA and McCallie knotted up at 14-all after Marcel Reed's second TD pass of the day.

Oakland leads Blackman 14-9 after an Eric Taylor TD.

Some other scores:

  • Beech 14, Cane Ridge 0
  • Lipscomb Academy 27, Webb 7
  • Baylor 17, Brentwood Academy 14
  • CPA 28, Chattanooga Christian 7

7:15 p.m.: Division II-AAA semifinal early updates -- MBA, Baylor lead early

An early Marcel Reed TD pass has MBA ahead of McCallie early, 7-0.

Baylor jumps ahead of Brentwood Academy 7-0 with an early Whit Muschamp TD pass.

7 p.m.: We're underway!

Games are kicking off across the midstate.

In East Tennessee, Lipscomb Academy leads Webb 20-7 at halftime. CPA leads Chattanooga Christian 21-7 at halftime. It looks like the two area teams are destined for a rematch in the DII-AA title game.

Keeping tabs on other games, including Maryville leading Science Hill 14-7 at halftime. The winner of that game is headed to Murfreesboro to face the Oakland-Blackman winner in the Class 6A semifinals next week.

6:30 p.m.: Lipscomb Academy, CPA with early leads

Both Nashville-area teams lead early in the Division II-AA semifinals.

Lipscomb Academy leads 7-0 over Webb late in the first quarter, with Drew Patterson getting the Mustangs on the board.

In Chattanooga, CPA has a 14-7 lead despite trading interceptions with Chattanooga Christian. Crews Law's TD run put the Lions ahead as the first quarter concluded.
