It’s been a three decade wait for Panthers fans.

The Florida Panthers won the franchise’s first ever Stanley Cup on Monday as they defeated the Edmonton Oilers 2-1 in game seven to take the series and the cup.

The Panthers looked as though they might sweep the Oilers, as they got off to a hot 3-0 start in the series. Just when it all looked over for Edmonton, they responded with three straight wins in one of the greatest comebacks in NHL history.

Despite having lost three straight, the Panthers made no mistake in game seven.

Florida were able to go one step further than last year, after falling to Las Vegas in the Stanley Cup Final in 2023. The Panthers were one of 14 teams in NHL history to never win a Stanley Cup, after having made the finals twice since the team’s inception in 1993.
