Ed Sheeran fans convinced his cryptic Ipswich Town FC announcement means they’ll get TWO new albums this year
ED Sheeran fans are convinced his cryptic Ipswich Town FC announcement means they'll get TWO new albums this year.
Earlier today the singer, 30, revealed he will be sponsoring the League One team next season.
The message '+-=÷x TOUR' will appear on the men’s and women’s teams’ jerseys, in reference to his previous albums.
It looks like he's dropped a hint that he's ready to go on tour again after his 18 month break via the symbols on the shirt.
But that's not the only thing he's tried to imply.
Eagle-eyed fans of the star have pointed out that there are two symbols that he hasn't used as an album name - meaning that he could be trying to drop hints.
One wrote on Twitter: "It's not just me that needed 5 minutes to realise Ed Sheeran's new shirt has both a minus and an equalise sign on it and he actually DOESN'T have albums with those symbols, which means we're getting two albums OH MY F*****G GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's defo not just me right?"
Another said: "Ummm Subtract?? Equals?? ALL WILL BE REVELEAD IN TIME. What’s happening??"
A third added: "TWO NEW ED SHEERAN ALBUMS INCOMING."
A fourth chimed in: "Oooh! What does this mean? Two albums maybe? These little guessing games are so much fun! #EdSheeran."
But it looks like the Shape of You singer isn't giving much else away.
When asked what the symbols meant, he simply replied: "All will be revealed in time."
The music megastar, who is worth an estimated £200million, has agreed an initial one-year deal with Ipswich.
Ed was born in Halifax, West Yorkshire, but grew up in Suffolk and has been a huge Ipswich supporter for many years.
Speaking out about the decision, Ed said: "The football club is a big part of the local community and this is my way of showing my support."
He added: "I have always enjoyed my trips to Portman Road and I'm looking forward to going back there as soon as supporters are allowed into stadiums again.
"With the new owners from the US coming in, there are sure to be exciting times ahead for Ipswich fans, including myself."
