Who was Jerry Springer?

Jerry Springer was a broadcaster, journalist, actor, producer, former lawyer, and politician, who was born on February 13, 1944, in London.

He started his career off in politics but switched to entertainment in the 1990s with his controversial syndicated self-titled tabloid talk show.

The show often featured guests who were not afraid of embarrassing themselves on national television and would cover several topics ranging from incest and adultery to politics and conflicts.

The Jerry Springer Show first premiered in September 1991 and was on air for 28 seasons before ending in July 2018.

What was Jerry Springer's cause of death?

Springer passed away on April 27, 2023, in his Chicago, Illinois, home.

His death was first confirmed by his lifelong friend and family spokesman Jene Galvin, who called him "irreplaceable".

Galvin said, via WLWT: “Jerry’s ability to connect with people was at the heart of his success in everything he tried whether that was politics, broadcasting or just joking with people on the street who wanted a photo or a word.

“He’s irreplaceable and his loss hurts immensely, but memories of his intellect, heart and humor will live on.”

Sources told TMZ that his death came shortly after he was diagnosed with cancer.

Was Jerry Springer married?

Springer had a widely successful career that also included roles in various films and TV shows, but that did not stop him from starting a family.

During his first and only marriage to Micki Velton, he welcomed a daughter, Katie Springer.

Springer and Velton were married from 1973 to 1994, but at this time, it is not known why they parted ways.

After his divorce, he kept details of his personal life out of the spotlight but he was reportedly single at the time of his death.
