I’m a stinky girl but my 5-minute routine gets all the funk out of my armpits – avoid men’s deodorant, I use a $5 buy

It works on other parts of the body, too

BODY odor is a struggle for many, especially in the summer months with heat waves causing people to sweat even more.

Redditor Snootybooze dished the dirty details in a comment on the social media platform.

She gave the advice in response to another woman asking about body odor prevention during the summer.

The Redditor advised against using soaps such as Dove that don't have clarifying properties.

"I’m a stinky arm pitter myself and I stopped using it. It’s not a super clarifying soap," she said.

"I use castile soap for my armpits and really work it in for like five minutes on each side to make sure I get all the funk out."

THE ROUTINE

Patience is key when it comes to her routine, starting with the castile soap.

"Keep rinsing your pits and restarting the process until your fingers smell like soap only — and not soap and armpit," she said.

"Also, dry your armpits completely after showering."

She advised against using men's deodorant to keep odor at bay.

"They seem like they should work because they are for men, but you shouldn’t be so easily fooled," she said.

She recommended the specific deodorant she uses to stay clean.

"Now I am using Dr. Teal’s deodorant," she said.

"It’s drier and I think it helps with moisture-wicking. Also, it’s aluminum-free, which is awesome."

Dr. Teal's Eucalyptus Deodorant is sold for $4.72 at Walmart.

She doesn't only use the stick under her arms, but virtually everywhere on her body.

"I put this under my boobs too because they sweat," she said.

She gave her regards as another person who deals with body odor in the summer.

"Signed, a fellow stinky girl," she concluded.

Other Redditors shared their summertime body odor routines.

"Body odor (typically in the armpit region) is caused by sweat and odor-causing bacteria. If you treat one, you'll treat the odor," one explained.

They advised applying a benzoyl peroxide wash under your armpits and letting it sit for 10 minutes to kill bacteria before rinsing.

"Use an antiperspirant, not a deodorant," they added. "This [treats] sweat."
