DESCALING appliances can often be a time-consuming and less than successful process.
But one savvy cleaning fan has come up with the perfect way to get your kettle sparkling clean - and it only costs 60p.
Laura Simpson took to the Family Lowdown Tips & Ideas group on Facebook to reveal she'd used lemon juice to get restore her kettle to its former glory, after reading the hack online.
"Someone put on here to descale your kettle with just plain on bottled lemon juice!" she wrote.
"Best thing I've ever done! Will switch to this method from now on."
And given that bottled lemon juice costs around 60p, the hack is a clever and cheap way of descaling appliances.
"Cleans and removes limescale sooo much better, it's cheaper AND better for the environment," Laura continued, before thanking whoever posted the original tip.
People were quick to comment on the post, with someone writing: "Always used lemon juice or a couple of teaspoons of citric acid.

Another person suggested using fresh lemons rather than bottled lemon juice, commenting: "I use fresh lemon, I literally just squeeze about two lemons in, fill the kettle up, boil it, leave to cool then boil again, then pour out and boil with fresh water.
"Really cheap way of doing it and works a treat, I have a see through kettle so I do mine regularly."
