What happened to masked rapper C. Gambino? Swedish Flashback star shot dead by gunmen in Gothenburg car park

FANS were in shock after rapper C. Gambino was shot dead in Sweden whilst parked up in the city of Gothenburg.

Who was C. Gambino?

C. Gambino was an award-winning Swedish rapper.

His face was covered by his trademark black mask when he performed, and he kept his identity secret from fans.

Details of who he was and his upbringing haven't been made public, however it's believed he was born in either 1997 or 1998 and came from the Swedish city of Gothenberg.

He was signed to Warner Music Sweden, and released many singles between 2019 and 2023 which charted across the countries in Scandinavia.

His hit albums, including Sin City and In Memory of Some Stand Up Guys, topped the Swedish music charts.

He also won the prestigious Swedish music award Grammis in May 2024 for Hip-Hop Artist of the Year.

He had almost a million monthly listeners on music streaming service Spotify.

What happened to C. Gambino?

The 26-year-old was shot dead in an ambush attack in Gothenburg in Sweden on Tuesday, June 4th 2024.

He had parked his car up when gunmen unleashed a hail of bullets.

The shooting happened near Selma Lagerlöf's Square in the Hisingen area of the city.

Witnesses report that a car sped away from where the shooting took place immediately after.

A number of bullet holes were reported to be found in a glass door near to the car park.

C. Gambino was rushed to hospital after cops were called to the scene, but medics pronounced him dead upon arrival.

What have police said about C. Gambino's death?

Police say several people were taken in for questioning, but they didn't initially have any suspects for the attack.

An address in Gothenburg was reportedly raided shortly after the fatal shooting.

Spokesperson Jens Andersson said: "[A] witness saw a car that is seen in connection with what happened. We are investigating whether it is true."

Another spokesperson Annika Laag added: "We are working to collect witness information from as many [locals] as we can and continue to work on the technical investigation."
