He was pictured lying on the ground wearing a Patriot Prayer cap and a Blue Lives Matter patch on his pants.

Here is more on Jay Bishop and what happened to him.

What happened in Portland?

The fatal shooting came as a caravan of Trump supporters clashed with Black Lives Matter protesters in Portland.

Multiple arrests were made in the ninety-fifth night of demonstrations in the city following the death of George Floyd.

The shooting took place around 8:45pm near the corner of Southwest 3rd Avenue and Alder Street.

Portland police are investigating it as a homicide but it was not immediately clear if the shooting was connected to the protests.

Witness Justin Dunlap told NBC News that he saw the victim facing two people when he heard the shots. He said he did not see the gun being fired because mace was sprayed at the same time.

The victim turned, "took a few steps, then fell face down," said Dunlap, 44, adding that the two people facing him ran from the scene.

Was there a pro-Trump rally in Portland?

Hundreds of demonstrators gathered in the parking lot of Clackamas Town Center and drove through downtown Portland Saturday evening to show their support for President Donald Trump.

Video from downtown Portland near the Justice Center showed scores of pickups driving through intersections filled with protesters.

In one video taken from across the street, a man appears to yell: "We got a Trumper right here."

One man on a skateboard moves past as another man crosses by him.

What did Trump say?

On Sunday Trump tweeted "Rest In Peace Jay!"

The tweet included several pictures of the victim.

Who is the leader of Patriot Prayer?

The leader of far-right group Patriot Prayer Joey Gibson has claimed the victim, Aaron "Jay" Danielson, was a “good friend” and a Blue Lives Matter supporter.

Gibson, founder of the Washington-based group, said Danielson - who also went by the name Jay Bishop - had a "huge heart" in a Facebook post he wrote Sunday afternoon.

"We love Jay and he had such a huge heart," Gibson wrote.

"God bless him and the life he lived."

A GoFundMe page has been set up for Jay.

The organizer of the pro-Trump protests, Stephen Bishop, said, "Thank you all so much, words can't describe how amazing you all are. My heart is still broken, but this will go a long way to help. God bless you all, and God bless America!"
