The Queen’s funeral is being covered extensively on TV, to allow people around the world to take part in mourning her loss

Her Majesty sadly passed away on September 8, 2022, after an incredible 70 years on the throne.

Coverage of the funeral will start a few hours before the official ceremony and will run throughout the whole day and into the night.

The processions in London and Windsor, as well as the ceremony inside Westminster Abbey, are televised.

After, a committal service at St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle is taking place.

This is the same chapel where the funeral of the Queen’s late husband Prince Philip was held in April 2021.

Will the Queen's funeral be live?

Her Majesty’s funeral is being broadcast live in the UK and around the world.

TV channels and radio stations are starting their live coverage early in the day, with many beginning with their breakfast television slot.

This is to ensure mourners around the UK and across the world can take part in the ceremony without having to travel to London.

How can I watch the Queen's funeral?

In the UK, several channels are covering the processions and service, including BBC, ITV and Sky.

BBC One will stream live coverage throughout the day starting with BBC Breakfast.

BBC iPlayer is also offering a free online live-stream of the event.

A special programme will be airing across all BBC channels from 8am till 5pm.

Meanwhile, ITV has announced that they will also be changing their schedule for coverage of the funeral.

This will start at 6am on Good Morning Britain which will preview the funeral, before moving into their special programming.

All of the day’s programming from 6am to midnight will be simulcast on all of ITV’s main channel and five digital channels and hub - the first time in its history ITV has done so.

A documentary film will be broadcasted at 7.30pm and then followed by another special programme at 9pm across all ITV channels.

Meanwhile, Sky will be offering full and free live coverage of the funeral on Sky News, the Sky News app and the Sky News Youtube Channel.

The broadcast will start with a special programme at 9am from Westminster Abbey.

Royal fans and mourners in the US can watch the funeral live on NBC News on both their network and their streaming service, NBC News Now. 

CNN, ABC and Fox News will also air the funeral.

Can you attend The Queen's funeral?

The Queen's funeral is by invitation only with 2,000 guests at Westminster Abbey.

It is expected that all senior members of the Royal Family will attend her funeral.

Royals who are expected to attend include the Queen's four children, King CharlesPrincess AnnePrince Andrew, and Prince Edward, as well as their spouses.

Her grandchildren, including Prince William and Prince Harry, and their wives will also attend.
