Amazon Prime has dominated the world of online shopping for years, but there is a rival positioned to provide more choices for shoppers.

Launched in 2020, Walmart Plus provides many similar perks to its members, and we've taken a look into how it compares to Prime, so you can ensure you're getting all you want.

If you are thinking of becoming a member, or even switching from one to the other, read on to find out how Walmart+ and Prime compare.

How do they compare in price?

Straight off the bat, Walmart+ is positioned as a cheaper alternative to Prime, with the membership costing $12.95 per month, or $98 for an annual plan.

Prime, on the other hand, is priced slightly higher at $14.99 per month, or $139 per year if you choose to pay annually.

Both memberships give first-time subscribers a free 30-day trial, so you could try out both services and decide which is worth spending on.

Delivery service

The biggest perk to any retail membership is delivery, and Amazon is certainly one of the best when it comes to speedy delivery for Prime members.

Amazon offers free one-day delivery on thousands of products, which you can filter using the 'get it tomorrow' filter on the site (not all products on the site are included).

Walmart+ also offers delivery perks, including free delivery from your local store and free shipping with no minimum order required.

Next-day, two-day, and standard shipping are included on orders sold and shipped by Walmart, meaning any third-party products won't qualify.

Walmart+ vs Prime: Streaming

Amazon Prime has a dedicated streaming service with a huge library of TV and film content that is 'free' for Prime members.

It includes fan-favorite movies such as Legally Blonde, Bridesmaids, Jurassic Park, and the James Bond franchise.

As well as must-see movies, Amazon Prime also includes Amazon Original content such as superhero satire The Boys and long-running favorite The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.

Of course, many Prime members gripe that there is lots of content that needs to be rented at additional cost.

Walmart+ is behind when it comes to streaming, although it offers free access to Paramount+ Essential Plan as part of its membership incentive.

Those streaming on Paramount+ can access over 40,00 episodes, movies, and live sports, such as the NFL, UEFA Champions League, and CBS Sports HQ.

However, it's not a long-term rival to Prime.

Sales and Deals

For Walmart shoppers, the Plus membership is a great way to save long-term, with the site claiming it can save regular customers up to $1,300 per year.

Walmart+ has stiff competition when it comes to Prime's sale events though; Prime Day, which has lots of deals that are exclusive to Prime members and offers huge discounts on millions of products.

Walmart has started its own sales event to rival that of Amazon with the Walmart+ Week.

When is Amazon Prime Day?

Amazon has yet to reveal the details of its next Amazon Prime Day.

We'd expect the next Prime Day to take place around early to mid-July.

Keep your eyes peeled here as we will bring you the latest dates and details as they arrive!

When is Walmart+ Week?

Similar in style to the Prime Day sale, Walmart hosts Walmart+ Week: a huge sale event to rival Amazon's.

This year, Walmart + Week is set to take place from June 17 to June 23; as the name suggests, customers can enjoy seven days of savings.

Members got early access to savings on thousands of popular products.

In 2024, Walmart+ Week shoppers can expect deals and discounts on gas, travel, and more; including essentials for the summer season.

In addition to this, the retail giant is introducing its first-ever mystery offer; so keep your eyes peeled.

Amazon Prime Day vs. Walmart+ Week

You're spoiled for choice!

Both Amazon's and Walmart's exclusive membership sales offer huge discounts on tech, home goods, toys, fashion, and more.

Walmart+ is positioning itself as a direct rival to Amazon Prime, with the sales week its ploy to entice would-be Prime shoppers.

The main difference between these events is that Walmart's sale runs for longer, so you'll have more opportunity to bag savings, while Amazon's hugely successful sales model only runs for 48 hours.

However, since Amazon now runs similar saving events, there's double the opportunity to bag a great bargain.
