The 17-year-old had made the bold decision to not wear anything green while the majority of the other players had donned the Irish colour.

And fans online were not pleased that he had opted out.

One wrote: "Luke Littler forgot the green memo for Dublin night I guess.

"But he does walk on with 'Greenlight' so... eh?!"

While another added: "Luke Littler where is your green shirt."

A third commented: "Seems littler didn’t get the dress code."

Although not all fans were disappointed with his decision to avoid green with one writing: "Fair play to Luke Littler just wearing his normal shirt."

Tonight's action comes just four days after St Patrick's Day and most of the BetMGM Premier League throwers paid tribute to the national celebration by donning green at the oche.

Littler wasn't the only player to opt out of the fashion statement with Luke Humphries also following suit.

And the raucous crowd certainly made their feelings known when he faced Peter Wright in his opening match.

Although the reception didn't get the better of Cool Hand Luke who breezed past Wright 6-1 to book his spot in the semi-finals.

And he didn't stop there as he breezed his way all the way to the final and won yet another Premier League night - proving why he deserved to be world number one.

Littler took on Michael Smith in his opener and crashed out to the world number three in a 6-4 loss - further extending his search for a first Premier League night win.

The teenager is yet to find himself in the winners circle during his debut Premier League season despite sitting third in the standings coming into night eight.

But he's found it easier to get his hands on some prize money and trophies elsewhere winning both the Bahrain Masters and the Belgian Darts Open since his meteoric rise began.
