THE Kansas City Chiefs could reportedly be without a vital offensive weapon to start the 2024 NFL season.

In 2023, then-rookie wideout Rashee Rice, 24, proved crucial to the Chiefs' second consecutive Super Bowl-winning season.

Rice finished just behind tight end Travis Kelce for the most receiving yards on the team with 938, along with his team-high seven touchdown receptions.

However, Rice's prospects for the 2024 season remain up in the air following his alleged involvement in a high-speed multi-car crash in Dallas on March 30.

Currently out on bail, Rice could be facing a multi-game ban by the NFL at the least, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

As such, this would leave Kansas City and quarterback Patrick Mahomes seriously lacking in offensive firepower.

Rice's most likely replacement would be recently signed veteran Marquise Brown, who racked up a career-best 1,0008 receiving yards with the Baltimore Ravens in 2021.

Last season, Brown made 14 appearances for the Arizona Cardinals, finishing with 574 yards and four scores.

As for Rice, further details surrounding his alleged involvement in the crash were recently revealed.

According to a report, Rice was racing a Lamborghini on the shoulder of a highway alongside SMU defensive back Teddy Knox in a Corvette, as per a local NBC affiliate.

Knox then allegedly tried to move over into the shoulder, colliding with Rice.

The Chiefs wideout is said to have then hit the center median, before spinning back into the road, hitting two more cars.

Rice's top speed was reportedly 119 miles per hour, while Knox's was 116 miles per hour before the crash, as per the Dallas Police Department's crash report.

Six cars were involved in total, with the people affected between 3 and 54 years old.

Rice and Knox were later arrested and charged with one count of aggravated assault and collision involving serious bodily harm, as well as six counts of collision involving injury.

Both men were subsequently released after posing $40,000 bonds, according to the local NBC affiliate.

Rice's attorney, Sen. Royce West, told NBC 5 of their report that while aware of it they "had no comment on the ongoing legal matter."

Knox's attorney, Deandra Grant, did not respond to the outlet.

The U.S. Sun has reached out to both attorneys for comment.

In a recent press conference, Chiefs head coach Andy Reid said they planned to step back and let Rice's situation play out with law enforcement, adding, "And then we'll go from there" - comments which were mirrored by general manager Brett Veach.

Reid also said he had spoken to Rice but opted not go to into detail.

The U.S. Sun has also contacted the Chiefs for comment.

Despite question marks surrounding his future, Rice has remained hard at work.

He recently shared a video of him training with Mahomes at an indoor facility near the quarterback's home in Texas, as per Fansided.
