THE Buffalo Bills' wide receiver room took a massive hit this offseason and fans are left scratching their heads.

After losing their top two wide receivers, the Bills are putting in their best effort to try and replace them, signing free agent Chase Claypool.

The Bills announced the signing of Claypool on Friday and were met with and unhappy response from Bills fans.

Claypool was drafted with the 49th pick in the 2020 NFL Draft by the Pittsburgh Steelers, and was meant to be their No. 2 wide receiver.

In his first two seasons with the team he showed promise, going for 1,733 yards with 11 touchdowns.

However, he quickly fell out of favor with the team and was traded to the Chicago Bears in 2022.

He spent the second half of 2022 and the first half of 2023 with the Bears before being traded again, this time to the Miami Dolphins.

So far in his career, Claypool has 2,261 yards and 13 touchdowns for three different teams.

Now, on his fourth team with the Bills, Claypool will likely be expected to take on a larger role as the Buffalo receiving room is absolutely decimated.

Fans questioned the direction that the Bills are going in with their recent signings in the comments of the announcement of Claypool's signing.

"Bills falloff must be studied," one fan said.

"He'll be cut by week 4 don't worry," another fan said.

"Doesn’t move the needle," a third fan said.

"Bills are cooked," a fourth fan said.

THE BILLS' ROUGH OFFSEASON

The Bills lost a few major offensive weapons to free agency and trades during the offseason.

First, wide receiver Gabe Davis signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars at the beginning of March.

He was given a three-year, $39 million deal that is worth up to $50 million with incentives.

Next, the Bills were dealt a major blow when they traded away Stefon Diggs to the Houston Texans.

Diggs had come to blows with quarterback Josh Allen and the Bills front office one too many times and they shipped him off because of it.

The Bills drafted wide receiver Keon Coleman out of Florida State as a hopeful replacement for Diggs' production, and will hope the signings of Curtis Samuel and Chase Claypool can help replicate that production.

One worrying statistic is Josh Allen's production with and without Stefon Diggs in the lineup.

Before Diggs joined the Bills, Allen had two seasons going for 2,074 yards with 10 touchdowns and 12 interceptions, and 3,089 yards with 20 touchdowns and nine interceptions.

With Diggs, Allen never dropped below 4,200 yards and 29 touchdowns again.
