‘He’s not lying,’ claim WNBA fans after Warriors star Draymond Green weighs in on controversial Caitlin Clark incident

GOLDEN State Warriors forward Draymond Green has given his two cents on the controversial shove on Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark.

The Fever battled their way to their first home win of the WNBA season on Saturday, beating the Chicago Sky 72-71.

However, the game wound up being overshadowed by a controversial incident in the third period.

After scoring, Sky guard Chenney Carter headed straight for Clark who was awaiting an inbound pass.

Coming from behind, Carter immediately barged into Clark, forcing her to the floor.

Carter then walked off, as Fever center Aliyah Boston walked over to help her teammate up.

The incident was deemed a foul and Clark subsequently landed the free throw, but no further action was taken.

"That's not just a basketball play," Clark told ESPN.

"But, you know, got to play through it. That's what basketball is about at this level."

After the game, Carter refused to discuss the incident, simply saying, "I ain't answering no Caitlin Clark questions."

Clips of the incident along with both Clark and Carter's comments quickly spread like wildfire on social media.

Among those to give their opinion was Green, who said on Instagram, "Indiana better go invest in an enforcer... Fast!"

Green's comment subsequently made it to X, formerly known as Twitter, where fans predominantly agreed with the four-time NBA Champion.

"He's not lying," one fan said.

"My boy came through with superhero-level advice," commented a second.

"Facts. Her teammates stood there without helping her," added another.

While a fourth replied, "As his team's enforcer he knows what he is saying."

Fever head coach Christie Sides went on to call on the WNBA to take action after the game.

"We're just going to keep sending these possessions to the league, and these plays, and hopefully they'll start taking a better look at some of the things we see happening," she said.

"Just more happy that Caitlin handled it the way she did.

"It's tough to keep getting hammered the way she does and to not get rewarded with free throws, or just a foul call."

But Sides wasn't done there, later tweeting, "This is unacceptable @wnba When will the consistent complaints be heard?!?

"Something has to be done!"

Next up for Indiana is a trip to New York to take on the Liberty on Sunday, before they can enjoy a break until June 7 when they head to the Washington Mystics.
